The African Association of states lotteries was created
in 1981 in Dakar in Sénégal.
It held its first ordinary congress the next year in Tanger
in MOROCCO. It gathers all the lotteries and state-run
betting systèm that manage a state concession.

The AASL is the association of several lotteries and state-run
betting system that regularly meets, exchanges experiences, get
informed and trained.
The Association is composed of :
- Regular Members :
they are recruited among the organisations managing a stateconcession
in the field of games of chance and forecast.
- Associated Members : this is done among the
organizations supplying goods and services to the regular members.
- Honorary Members : are chosen by the general
assembly on proposal of the executive committee among the personalities
who did oustanding favours to the Association.
It is composed of an executive
committee often countries which are: South Africa, Burkina faso,
Cote d’ivoire, Senegal, Madagascar, Cameroon, Ghana, congo-Brazzaville,
Togo, Morocco.
The chairmanship is the affair of the Burkina faso, and the secretariat
is held by Côte d’Ivoire. The executive committee
meets twice a year on call of the chairman. To the attention of
the executives, a seminar is held every year with instructors
who discuss a theme together and exchange experiences.
The AASL gathers about fifteen countries that regularly and actively
participate in its activities and about ten others which are less
active . since two years, the leading party has been striving
to redynamise the Association by trying to meet the other parts
of the continent. Meetings in Johannesburg in South Africa, Casablanca
in Morocco.... The AASL is moving, contacting and recruiting.
« It is important
for us to increase the number of our members by incorporating
the whole Africa so that we can work together, as a continent
to the settting up of lotteries of world level in any country
in the interest of the inhabitants of these countries. »
It is the leitmotiv of the executive committee. That is why the
continent has been divided into areas with a responsible for each
area in charge of mobilizing the others.
- Area I / Southern
and Eastern Africa : South Africa
- Area II / Central Africa : Congo Brazzaville
- Area III / North Africa : Morroco
- Area IV / West Africa : Mali
Africa is 30,310,000 square
kilometers with about 816 millions of inhabitants,
suppose 26.65 inhabitants per square kilometer, 10% of
the world population. It is the continent which is in full progress.
Most of the member states exploit equestrian betting operations
and scratching tickets.
